Simpson’s Hardy magnolia is an upright pyramidal tree with glossy deep green leaves and red-brown indumentum.  The tree grows at a rate of approximately 12-24” per year eventually growing to 60’H x 35’W.   This hardy magnolia can grow in zone 5 in protected locations.  Prefers well-drained average soils.  Fragrant blooms resemble large white goblets and are produced throughout the summer In warmer climates.
