Tamukeyama Japanese Maple is a broad low branching, weeping Japanese maple with highly serrated leaves. Leaves emerge in Spring with crimson coloration changing to a deep crimson in late summer. The growth rate is 6-12” per year when grown in sun. The red coloration holds well into late summer and changes to brilliant scarlet red in Fall. In areas of intense sun, some protection from late afternoon sun is advised. In shadier locations, the colors become more reddish green. Prefers moist well-drained slightly acidic fertile soil.
