Baldsmith is a laceleaf Japanese maple with a broad low branching form with brilliant red foliage in the Fall.  Spring growth is bright orange-red deepening to a dusty bronze with yellow and orange highlights in early summer.  In areas of intense sun, some protection from late afternoon sun is advised.  In shadier locations, the colors become more reddish green.  Prefers moist well-drained acidic to neutral fertile soil.
